A new phase

by Myles Ritchie, Team Leader

Much of 2015 has been taken up with selecting the research proposals for funding and we are now very close to finalising the contracts with the successful research institutions. We have also been working hard to develop the exchange programmes that will link researchers to policy makers across the region. The EHPSA programme is now ready to move into a new and exciting phase.

EHPSA's second Steering Board Meeting took place in Johannesburg on 17 April. The meeting was chaired by UNAIDS's Dr Pierre Somse and attended by scientists and HIV specialists from across Eastern and Southern Africa.
Presentations were made by EHPSA and the World Bank and progress across the outputs was discussed.

Research proposals currently in the final stages of contracting for EHPSA funding cover HIV combination prevention for adolescents (four), formative research on MSM communities in South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Malawi (four) and treatment as prevention for prisoners (South Africa, Zambia).
