AIDS 2016:The EHPSA team has been busy preparing for AIDS 2016. An online and printed roadmap has been developed for areas of interest to EHPSA and EHPSA’s partners. Two research studies will deliver presentations at the International AIDS Conference.

RRIF Evidence into Action: Most studies have met with key stakeholders and several have produced communications products. Stakeholder engagement plans have been submitted by four of the RRIF studies. A plan to provide ongoing support for stakeholder engagement has been developed and EHPSA’s next regional symposium will be dedicated to EiA. More…

EHPSA EiA plan: A schedule for EHPSA’s upcoming EiA activities has been developed and circulated widely. It includes technical fora on adolescents and MSM as well as a regional symposium aimed at strengthening EiA and building synergies across all RRIF portfolios. More…

EHPSA Fellowship Scheme: The Swaziland Fellowship on the economic cost of school drop-out in the context of HIV has been completed. This has enabled Swaziland to develop its own abstract-driven conference in the run-up to, and officially linked to AIDS 2016. EHPSA is funding Sonke Gender Justice in advocacy work to reduce sexual violence in prisons in southern Africa. This quarter, Sonke identified Zambia as a second country in which to work and has begun establishing the programme in Malawi. Progress was made in South Africa, including the training of correctional officers in Leeuwkop Prison, Johannesburg, on the implementation of the national guidelines to reduce sexual violence. More…

London visit: The EHPSA Team leader visited UK in June to profile the programme and share progress with DFID London teams and organisations in the field, such as STRIVE, Institute of Development Studies and University College London EPPI Centre. Valuable contacts were made and advice received on research uptake.
